WiFi Enabled Thermostat
Dual-relay home climate controller built with an onboard AC-DC power module, ESP MCU, LCD screen, and MQTT integration.
Project Overview
Engineered with both safety and ease of operation in mind, this smart thermostat controls house heating and domestic hot water independently. The PCB incorporates an onboard AC-DC step-down module (Hi-Link), allowing direct connection to home mains power without external wall adapters.
Users can configure setpoints locally via a backlit LCD display and tactile navigation buttons, or remotely over Wi-Fi via MQTT broker commands integrated into Home Assistant or Node-RED.
Safety features include relay interlocks, watchdog supervision, and provision for hardware-level fuse protection. The firmware supports scheduling, hysteresis control for efficient heating cycles, and remote OTA updates for field improvements. The physical design was also optimised for safe separation of mains and low-voltage domains and simplified installation in a standard wall box.
